The enterprise architect turns strategic intent into actionable blueprints and ensures compliance with technical standards and guardrails. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, performing architecture reviews, and guiding IT and business leaders on strategic investment. An enterprise architect’s focus is on the large spectrum of process, systems and data that enable critical business processes across the enterprise. Responsibilities: Convert strategic intent from stakeholders into actionable, cost-efficient, and secure blueprints that the IT organization can deliver. Conduct architectural reviews and assessments against architectural guidelines, enforcing rules and policies that maintain a secure, efficient and effective IT landscape. Define and communicate the living target architecture, high-level design, and technical roadmaps. Lead or participate in architecture runway and other ceremonies to ensure consistency across teams and management of dependencies. Review and improve architectural standards, contributing to the guardrails for the enterprise. Help leadership define policies, guidelines, and strategies. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of prior experience as an enterprise architect, preferably in the oil and gas industry. 10+ years of prior experience in technical IT roles, preferably in the oil and gas industry. Experience in both development and operations, including DevOps. Skilled in implementing various architecture styles, design patterns and best practices for software development. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: Technical depth Hands-on engineering background as a developer, software engineer or solution architect, with systems shipped to production. Current proficiency in at least one language (Python, C#, Java or Go) is a plus. Designed and delivered cloud-native and hybrid solutions on Azure, AWS or GCP. This includes microservices, API-first and event-driven designs, containers/Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep). Practical DevOps and platform engineering experience. This covers CI/CD, observability, SRE practices and resilience engineering. Experience with modern data and AI platforms. Examples are lakehouse and streaming architectures, Microsoft Fabric/Databricks, data governance, and ML/generative AI patterns including MLOps and responsible AI. Hands-on security architecture. This includes zero trust, identity and access management, threat modeling and secure SDLC practices. Familiarity with OT/IT convergence in oil and gas or process industries. Examples are SCADA, historians (PI/AVEVA), edge computing, industrial IoT and ISA/IEC 62443. Enterprise architecture practice Working knowledge of EA frameworks and modeling standards, such as TOGAF, Zachman, ArchiMate and C4, with practical experience applying them to enable agile design. Experience using architecture repository or modeling tools, such as LeanIX, Ardoq, Sparx EA or Bizzdesign. Architecture-as-code and policy-as-code guardrails are a plus. Experience operating in scaled agile environments (SAFe or similar), including architecture runway and PI planning. Certifications (any of the following) A professional-level cloud architect certification (Azure, AWS or GCP). TOGAF or an equivalent EA framework certification.
