Since its launch, the show has become one of the nation’s most successful daily news podcasts, earning recognition from the Edward R. Start Here is entering a defining new chapter—transforming into a daily news video podcast that reaches audiences wherever and however they choose to engage, while continuing to deliver the trusted podcast its dedicated audience relies on each day. We’re seeking an experienced Producer with a background in writing and producing news and feature segments in audio and visual mediums, to help in this next phase of growth of an award-winning franchise as it evolves into a premier multi-platform news destination. This is a hands-on role for a producer who can operate from concept to execution— helping guide day-to-day production, write and produce video podcast segments daily, as well as being an active voice in terms of long-term editorial strategy, audience growth, and innovation. You’ll join at a pivotal moment in the show’s history, with an opportunity to help lead its expansion from a category-defining podcast into a flagship daily news video podcast across streaming, social, and digital platforms—all while preserving the journalistic excellence that has made Start Here an essential part of people’s mornings. The schedule for this role will be Sunday - Thursday, 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. EST, or later depending on breaking news. Responsibilities Be part of the overall editorial and production strategy for Start Here, being a part of daily content creation and guiding the show’s evolution into a daily news video podcast and multi-platform news franchise. Helping to oversee the creative and editorial direction of each video podcast episode—writing and producing segments, writing and conducting interviews—while partnering closely with the Host/Managing Editor and other producers to shape editorial priorities, identify compelling stories, and develop innovative storytelling that resonates across audio, video, streaming, and digital platforms. Work with the editors who cut and produce the show’s segments and episodes, collaborating with the host and editor throughout the production process. Opportunity to be a core member of a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative newsroom culture while ensuring every episode delivers exceptional journalism, storytelling, and visual execution. Be a key voice to help drive the creative vision, visual identity, and audience growth strategy for the franchise, developing platform-specific content and distribution approaches that maximize engagement across YouTube, social media, streaming, and emerging platforms. Collaborate across editorial, production, graphics, audience development, Legal, Standards, and Rights & Clearances teams to deliver high-quality content, ensure compliance with company policies, and expand the show’s reach through original and social-first storytelling. Basic Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience producing network-level television news, with a strong portfolio spanning daily programming and long-form storytelling. Proven success leading productions and teams and driving editorial decision-making in a fast-paced newsroom, with exceptional news judgment and a deep understanding of the daily news cycle. Strong visual storytelling instincts, with experience developing and producing high-quality news packages and multi-platform content. Experience writing and producing scripts for a video podcast news program, including familiarity with Avid editing. Experience collaborating with a podcast host on editorial direction, scripting, conducting interviews, and tracking—and with editors to cut and produce segments of a video podcast. Experience launching, growing, or transforming streaming, digital, or video-first news products is strongly preferred. Deep understanding of YouTube, social media platforms, audience development, and engagement strategies. Outstanding organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive under deadline pressure.
